During his or her watch, the 3rd Electrician assists the Engineer Watch Officer (EWO) by locally monitoring the safe and efficient operation of machines inside the engine room. Outside his or her watch, he or she participates in the maintenance and repair of engine room and hotel machinery and equipment.

The qualifications for this position will follow all international and national conventions and regulations and must have a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited university or college.

  Ensure that all ventilation, cooling, freezing equipment, ice skating arena equipment (where applicable), and air conditioning equipment are kept in full and proper working condition.  Assist the Chief Refrigeration Engineer in training the personnel in his division in safety procedures and assigned duties.  Delegation and distribution of work for his subordinates as directed by the Chief Refrigeration Engineer. Assist the Chief Refrigeration Engineer in the coordination and control of the refrigeration accounts.   Additional routines and work are assigned by the supervisor.

A refrigeration engineering degree is required, and some experience is preferred.

Working under the direction of the Chief Engineer, the electrician oversees the operation and maintenance of the electrical plants and associated systems. Supervising and ensuring that everything, from the navigation systems to the elevators, is working properly and safely at all times.

Fluent in oral and written English.  High school graduation with appropriate licenses obtained from certified technical institutes. At least 1 years of experience in the position on board of ships operating internationally.

A skilled worker is able to carry out all kinds of maintenance and repair work. Under the direction of the Engineer Watch Officer (EWO) and the 3rd Engineer in charge of the watch in the machinery space, the motorman will be responsible for the inspection, operation, and testing, as required, of all machinery and equipment under his responsibility.
